Streamrly
Privacy and terms
How we handle your information, the rules for using Streamrly, and the terms for advertisers. Last updated 29 October 2026.
Privacy notice
Who we are
Streamrly is run by AELLTECH Ltd, a UK company. We decide how your personal information is used on Streamrly (we are the "controller"). Contact us about your information at support@streamrly.com.
What we collect and why
- Your account: email address, password (stored only in scrambled, non-reversible form), display name, account type, business name, date of birth and country. We use these to run your account, apply age rules and keep the service safe.
- Business accounts: your Companies House number and the public company details we look up with it, to check advertisers are real businesses.
- What you upload: videos, thumbnails, titles, descriptions, age ratings and AI-use labels, so we can host and show them.
- How you use Streamrly: plays, likes, comments, playlists and watch history; advert plays and clicks. We use these to run features, count advert plays fairly, pay creators and give advertisers totals. Advertisers only ever see combined figures (for example plays by country), never who you are.
- Payments: handled by Stripe. We keep amounts, references and payout status. We never see or store full card or bank details.
- Age checks: if you verify your age to watch 18-rated content, Stripe Identity checks your ID document. We receive only the result (whether you are over 18), not the document or the details on it.
- Video summaries: for public videos we create a written transcript of the soundtrack and a one-line summary of what the video contains, so viewers can see what a video is about before opening it.
- Safety checks: uploads are checked against known child sexual abuse material using Project Arachnid Shield, run by the Canadian Centre for Child Protection. If something matches, we keep the record and technical details (such as the IP address used) and report it to the National Crime Agency, as UK law requires.
- Security: sign-in records, IP addresses and browser details, to protect accounts and prevent abuse. Where we can, we store these in a form that doesn't identify you.
- Country settings: when a creator limits an upload to certain countries, we check which country your internet connection is in at the moment you press play. We use it only for that check and don't store it.
- Messages and reports you send us.
Our legal reasons
We use your information to provide the service you signed up for (contract); to meet legal duties such as online safety, age assurance, safety reporting and tax records (legal obligation); and to keep Streamrly secure and working well, in ways you would reasonably expect (legitimate interests).
Cookies
We only use cookies the site needs to work: keeping you signed in, a security token for forms, access to the preview while we are in testing, and settings you choose such as light or dark mode (kept in your browser). We don't use advertising or tracking cookies, and adverts are not targeted using cookies.
Who we share information with
- IONOS, which hosts Streamrly in a UK data centre.
- Stripe, for payments, creator payouts and age checks.
- Companies House, when we look up a business number (a public register).
- Project Arachnid Shield, for safety checks on uploads.
- Mistral AI (France), to turn the soundtrack of public videos into text and write the one-line summaries and title checks described under Moderation. Only the audio and the video's title, description and comments are sent, never the video picture, and never anything held for a safety review. Mistral may not use this information to train its models.
- The National Crime Agency or other authorities, when the law requires it.
We do not sell personal information.
Information sent outside the UK
Stripe may process information in the United States, Project Arachnid Shield in Canada, and Mistral AI in the European Union. These transfers are protected by UK-approved safeguards (UK adequacy regulations, or the UK's approved contract terms).
How long we keep it
- Video transcripts and summaries are kept while the video is on Streamrly and deleted with it.
- You can delete your account at any time on the delete account page or in the app.
- Accounts that haven't been used for 365 days are deleted automatically, after a warning.
- Some records are kept after deletion because the law requires it: payment and payout records (normally six years, for tax), and safety report records (the report reference for five years and the evidence for one year).
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your information, ask us to correct or delete it, object to or restrict how we use it, or ask for it in a portable format. Contact us at support@streamrly.com. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Children
Children under 13 can only use Streamrly through a child profile managed by a parent account. 18-rated content needs a verified adult.
Terms of use
These terms are an agreement between you and AELLTECH Ltd. By creating an account or using Streamrly you accept them.
Your account
- Give accurate details, including your date of birth, and keep your password private.
- Under-13s must use a child profile set up by a parent account.
- You are responsible for what happens on your account.
Your content
- You keep ownership of what you upload. You give Streamrly a licence to store, copy, format, show and promote it on Streamrly for as long as it is on the service.
- Only upload content you have the rights to.
- You can choose which countries your uploads play in. We match viewers by their internet connection, so we can't guarantee the limit: some people use services that hide where they are.
- Give every upload an honest age rating and AI-use label. Deliberately misrating content breaks these terms.
Not allowed
- Illegal content of any kind. Child sexual abuse material is blocked and reported to the National Crime Agency.
- Terrorist content, incitement to violence, hate, harassment and threats.
- Intimate images shared without consent.
- Content that infringes other people's rights.
- Spam, fake engagement, getting round age checks or safety features, and copying the service or its content automatically.
Moderation
We may remove or restrict content, and suspend or close accounts, that break these terms or the law. We'll tell you why where we can, and you can appeal through the contact page; appeals are reviewed by someone not involved in the original decision. Anyone can report content.
To help viewers avoid misleading titles, we compare what a video's title and thumbnail promise with what the video actually contains. This never looks at which side of an argument a video takes, and strong language is fine when the video backs it up. If a title clearly does not match its video, a neutral note may appear under its summary and it may be suggested less often; it still appears in search, on your profile and to your subscribers. A note about a factual claim we could not find in news coverage only appears after a member of staff has checked it. You can ask us to review any note through the contact page.
Creators and earnings
Creators receive 70% of the advertising charges for adverts played with their videos, paid through Stripe once the minimum payout is reached. Earnings may be held while we investigate suspected fraud or a breach of these terms; we'll say why and when we expect to decide.
The service
Features may change, pause or stop. We work to keep it available and secure but can't promise it will always be uninterrupted or error-free.
Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud. Otherwise, we are not responsible for losses that weren't reasonably foreseeable, or for business losses.
Ending
You can stop using Streamrly and delete your account at any time.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live elsewhere in the UK you may also bring a claim in your local courts.
Advertiser terms
These terms apply in addition to the terms of use when a business account advertises on Streamrly.
Eligibility
Advertisers must have a business account whose Companies House details we have verified.
Your adverts
- You must have the rights to everything in your advert, and it must follow UK law and the UK Code of Non-broadcast Advertising (CAP Code).
- Gambling, alcohol, less-healthy food and drink, and financial products are restricted. We may refuse them or limit who sees them.
- Choose an accurate age rating for each advert. It decides which viewers can see it, and lowering it during a running campaign isn't allowed.
- Every campaign is reviewed by a person before it can run. We may refuse, pause or remove any advert or campaign, and will tell you why.
Prices and payment
- You pay 15p per advert start (GBP, excluding VAT), as shown in your advertiser dashboard. An advert start is counted once per play, after the advert has started playing for a viewer.
- Campaigns are paid for in advance by card through Stripe. A campaign stops when its budget is used up or it reaches its end date.
- If the rate changes, we'll show the new rate in your dashboard before it applies to new plays.
- Prices exclude VAT, which is added where it applies.
Delivery
We don't guarantee a number of plays. Delivery depends on viewers, your targeting and age rating, and limits on how often a viewer sees the same advert. While Streamrly is in private testing there are few or no viewers, so funded campaigns may not spend.
In the Streamrly app, viewers can listen with the picture off, for example with the screen locked. An advert that plays while someone is listening this way is counted and charged in the same way as any other play. If someone switches to listening while an advert is on screen, the advert finishes on screen first. We record which plays were heard rather than seen and can tell you how many there were on request.
Refunds
Unspent funds can be refunded to the original payment method on request through the contact page. Charges for advert plays already delivered are not refundable, except where we made a mistake.
Reports
Your dashboard shows plays, spend and combined audience figures. We never give advertisers information that identifies individual viewers.
Ending
You can stop a campaign at any time. We may suspend advertising for a breach of these terms, and will refund unspent funds unless the breach involves fraud or illegal content.
